Keep it Simple & Go Green - Paper Sundaes/Sentim. Sundays

Good morning all! I have been fighting a cold the last few days..yuck.  I haven't been sick in awhile and I am NOT liking it! Just makes me feel all crummy. I did get out of the house yesterday for a few things. It was a GORGEOUS day here in Sunny South Florida. 72 degrees and not a cloud in the sky.  My kind of weather. Though I wasn't feeling 100% we did venture out on a bike ride with the children. We thought it would be quite relaxing to just ride. We have a couple nice bike loops we can take near my house.

Well - first off. We have been trying to teach my 6 yr old how to ride a bike. All she does is argue with us why we are wrong. So she hasn't learned yet. In order for us  to go on a ride I bought another set of training wheels. I'm thinking....this will be great. She LOVES to ride (or at least she use to!)  Well I bought trainings wheels that truly do help - the bend if she leans to much. So she has to try to keep the bike straight, or she could fall more easily than with traditional training wheels.  OMG - you would have thought the world ended. We rode for 9 miserable miles. We had not 1...not 2...but multiple meltdowns!! LOL Then there are a few spots where we have to cross a relatively busy road to get to the "loop" and back home", well...she decides to have one of the meltdowns in the MIDDLE of the road...omg!  Cars are coming....I'm like..come on...we got move it....she is yelling "I CAN"T" I DONT WANT TO...lol   Wow- what a mentally stressful ride that was on an absolutely gorgeous day!!  We kept going though, I thought, eventually she is just going to "get" that balancing thing on the bike.  So this morning...we are going on another one. I'm telling yu...I'm not giving up on her!!

Enough of that  - my card for today is using a Pure Innocence stamp from My Favorite Things. My Favorite Things is the sponsor over at Paper Sundaes today as well. The theme today is to "Keep it Simple". I do hope that you play along with us. You don't have to use a MFT stamp...but do "Keep it Simple".   I am also using the same card for Sentimental Sundays. The theme this week is "Go Green" , it can be recycling or green in color. I chose color. Not many recycling themed stamps in my collection! KWIM.

I did two versions of this. I am having a Craft-a-thon as we fondly call it on Saturday and this is one of the cards we are going to do. I figured it was simple enough for some of the girls who aren't as involved in stamping. So whats a craft-a-thon. Well, I have a group of ladies that get together every few months on a Saturday. We all make one (or two) projects and bring enough for everybody that is attending (usually about 6-8)  and we "teach" how to make the card. We start at 9 and usually end at 4. Whoever is hosting it at their house, also makes us a yummy lunch as has muffins and breakfast items there at 9. We really have a great time doing it. We use to get together and just do our own thing, but somebody would always be there twiddling their thumbs trying to figure out what to do.  So about 3 (maybe even more) years ago, we tried doing this once and have just kept it going.  It's a really great time.

Back to the card, sorry got sidetracked!  The paper is from Close to My Heart (greens) the other is My Minds Eye (blues). I have colored with Copics. There isn't much else to say....bc this is a Simple card.

Do stop by the Paper Sundaes and Sentimental Sundays blogs. The DT have created some wonderful things. Did you know that every sunday on the Sentimental Sundays blog that Ann from Raindropecho puts up some fabulous Sentiments for FREE! You just download them. There is a new set every week!  So hop on over and check things out.

Tracy,

I had to laugh when I read this about your bike training exercise! Poor child is feeling very insecure and inadequate, I'm sure. If she continues to have her mental meltdowns, you might try just letting her tackle this one on her own terms. If she has neighborhood friends who ride, that might encourage her to learn more than all the training wheels in the world. When I was a kid, we either didn't have training wheels or my parents couldn't afford them... not sure which, but we just had to get on our bikes and go if we wanted to ride. It took a few tumbles before I got the hang of it but it was because my friends were all riding that I became determined to learn.

Your cards are so sweet! The papers you used make the simple design not look so simple. Great coloring too!
