I'm Dead Serious......

Good morning and today is SugarPea Designs Sugar Sketch Challenge time! I say it all the time, but I just love sketches!! If I am not feeling the mojo I ALWAYS go to my sketches. I have oodles of them pinned on my Sketch Pinterest board for those occasions. So I am all about playing along with Sketch challenges!

I played along today using one of my favorite sets from the last release - Undying Love.  Seriously, are they not the cutest set of zombies ever!!!

I really wanted to give my zombie a pale face, so you don't see much color or shading there. That was done purposely. Then I used part of the image using a stitched circle die.  The patterned paper is from Bazzill.  I made perfect mattes with my Perfect Layers Mini tools (you can get 5% off by using Code Tracy5%).  Everything was finished off with enamel dots....

Here is the sketch. Remember you can turn it to change it up some too.

The rules are simple..........
  • Create a new card or project using the SugarSketch provided.
  • SugarPea Design stamps are NOT required to play along or to win but would be appreciated :)
  • You may rotate/flip the sketch & replace shapes – so long as the original sketch layout is recognizable
  • Upload to your blog or other Online Gallery using Keyword: SPDSS12 so that we may check out your beautiful work
  • Add your name and link to your project in the InLinkz on the SugarPea Designs Blog.
  • One randomly selected winner will receive a $10 Gift Certificate to the SugarPea Designs Online Shoppe.
  • However, if the winning entry features a SugarPea Designs stamp we will increase the prize to $15!

I used Sweater Weather from Lawn Fawn to create my card today.  The Perfect matte around the image was creating using my Perfect Layers Mini Tools, which are the perfect choice for us Card makers!!

My background was sponged on using some regular dye inks. I then used a pierced rectangle to cut my image out. I created a little b it of dimension using an embossing folder on my orange paper and foam dots to lift the image panel.  Last I added a few buttons from my stash to finish it off.

Take time for Detours....

Good morning!  Soooo, today I was nominated by one of my bestest crafty girls, Jenny Peterson, to participate in Creative Blog hop! It allows us all to meet new faces, maybe get introduced to bloggers we didn't know before now.....with the idea that it never ends!!

Also todays post is for BellaRiffic Fridays challenge at Stamping Bella. Are you on Facebook, if not, you should be because Em has been posting some images of the upcoming release and boy are the CUTE! If you are an uptown girl fan like I am, you will be blown away for sure!!!

Real quick about my card. This weeks inspiration photo from Stamping Bella is this:

So my Uptown Girl - Molly Makes a Detour is going on a safari or maybe traveling the world!  I used an older paper pad from Bo Bunny for the paper, Zoology Collection. Added some foam squares to each layer and that's about all the room I had, so yep...simple!

Now......for todays creative hop I have a couple of questions to answer for you.....and then I am going to nominate 3 other awesome crafters that I think you should get to know. Hopefully they will play along!! If so, next Monday, they will post and answer all these questions that I know you are dying to know about us!! ;-)

  • What am I working on now - Fall décor. I have been busy making wreaths and centerpieces for the house. We bought a new, bigger house and I am having fun decorating, I have loads more space to do so with. So If I am not card making....I am usually perusing pinterest for ideas!!  I am also always coloring and working on cards for the design teams that I am on.....
  • How does my work differ from others in my genre? I am a plain Jane girl. My cards tend to be simple with layers and not much in terms of "stuff".  I love to use buttons, twine, occasional ribbon, but that's about all you will see out of me. Long ago when I first got into this biz, I felt that I needed to do what everybody else did and I would load up  a card with Flowers. Then I was like, why am I adding flowers to a card with a kid playing soccer on it?? This doesn't seem right!!!  So I stopped and I have developed, in time, my own style.
  • Why do I create what I do?  I love to color. When I was little I was always drawing and my favorite class was art. My parents even put me in an afterschool art program for a little bit, I LOVED IT. As I got older I would still sketch things out here and there.  Then I was introduced to stamping by my MIL.  I loved that outlet and my girlfriends and I would do "craft-a-thons" quarterly. Everybody would do one project and bring enough for everyone and "teach" it. It was awesome and nobody was sitting there lacking mojo! A few years later when I found Copics, I I found me!  Coloring is my destresser!! I do what I like and how I like it. I'm not trying to be anybody else when I color. I have my own style and look and am quite happy with it.  Nothing better than binge watching Netflix, glass of wine....line art and some copics!!
  • How does my creative process work? Hrmm, well, I start by picking out the line art that I want to use. Normally these days that is chosen by whatever design team that I am on, but not always. Then I always pick out the paper that I am going to use. I base my coloring on that paper. I have just colored and didn't pick out paper but it's too stressful afterwards to match it up. So I don't do that very often anymore. After I have colored my image, I will sometimes look for a sketch that I like. Sometimes I just wing it. I will usually pull 2-3 patterned papers from the paper I am using.  Then I just starting putting it together. I will add some foam dots between layers to give it a little more dimension. If I end up with what is going to be an empty spot, I will often times pull out the buttons, twine and enamel dots!
  •
So that's all about me! Now I need to nominate some awesome crafty girls......hrmmm....I think I will nominate the following crafters:

So next Monday....let's see who they nominate!

    Hugs

Good morning! Welcome to BellaRiffic Friday!! I'm getting antsy for the new release..how about you?? I can't wait to see them all too!!  So excited....and more uptowns. SWOON!

This week we have a SKETCh for you. I have used Flora the Cyclist.

Doesn't she looks so patriotic with her red and blue! Love!

I colored Flora the Cyclist with Copic markers. I used some Flower Soft (sweet pea) for the basket of flowers. Love how that looks! The ground was creating using Prisma Color pencils and gamsol.  The banner die is MFT.  I kept it simple and added a drawn border around my image and sentiment flag with a Copic Multiliner.

Join us next week with an inspiration photo challenge!!  Here it is.....

Happy Fall Ya'll - SPD Sneak Peek

Good morning and welcome to Day 4 of SugarPea Designs Sweet Sneak Peeks!! Today we have Bountiful Blessings. Fall is my FAV time of year....I love everything about it.

I created a little scene by masking and stamping. Notice I didn't put them all in a straight line, which helps to add depth to the image. I used copics for all the coloring.  The texture in the jeans was done just be drawing light lines with in a criss cross pattern. You just barely touch the nib to the paper to do this. I used a copic multiliner to add in freckles too.  I also used a multiliner to draw a border around the white panel.  I was busy making burlap wreaths this past weekend, so I snitched a piece to use as a matte for the image. The Daisys, I had to improvise as I don't have a Sunflower die, are from an MFT die.

    Get Well Wishes.....SPD Sneak Peek

Good morning and welcome to Day 3 of SugarPea Designs Sweet Sneak Peeks!  Today we have Sniffles and Snuggles. It's just the cutest scene...looks like something right out of a storybook!

For my card today I used a very CAS design as the image is such a cute scene I really wanted you to be able to see all the elements and what was going on. Don't laugh at my yellow tissue paper..lol  I added some highlights and then when I went back to photograph it, the tissue paper was glowing...so I added more and before you know it...it was yellow. I went with it! lol I think it would be fun to cut up little pieces of real tissue and add them to the scene too...maybe next time.

I paper pieced the comforter on the bed. Added a little shading to it as well.  The rest is all colored with copics.
