Crafter's Companion BLOG HOP!!!

Welcome to the Crafter's Companion Scavenger Hunt Blog Hop!!  If you arrived here from Dawn's blog, you are on the right track. If not, you will definitely want to start at the beginning because there are LOTS of goodies to be won!!  Start here!

I'm so happy you hopped by today!! Before we get started I wanted to share the project I made for you today. I used "Flowers for you" from the Humprey line. Spectrum Noirs were used to color this image.  The colors I used were:

Now on to the Scavenger Hunt! There are 12 design team members and each of us have a question that will give you clues to 12 different items that you can find in the Crafter's Companion Store.

What do you have to do? Well, you need to hop to all 12 blogs and get all 12 questions and then hop over to the Crafter's Companion Store to find the answers. After you have found the answers you will then put them in an email to Bindy at bindy@crafterscompanion.com

Beatrix Potter for Crafter's Companion

Good morning! Today I'm bringing you a card using the latest release from Crafter's Companion, Beatrix Potter Collection. I have used a stamp from the "Tale of Benjamin Bunny" set.  I thought it would make a perfect Mother's Day card. I love the fluffy hat! I also used Spectrum Noirs, which are new Alcohol Markers created by Crafter's Companion to color this.  They are inexpensive and so far I am having good results with the limited amount that I have.

I'm back with Popcorn the Bear!

Hello! I'm BACK!!!!!!!!!  In my last post I mentioned that I had some things going on, well the family went away for a nice long vacation. We traveled to Las Vegas and then drove 3 hours to Utah for some Skiing, then went back to Vegas and spent a couple of days bumming around. We had a wonderful time and the weather was fabulous!!!!!  My kids got to see snow, this was their 2nd time. Only the 1st time there wasn't much and then it melted so they don't include that!! lol  We hadn't expected it to actually snow , the weather forecast when we left called for a warmer days and even some RAIN! Which isn't great conditions for skiing. Luckily we were at really high elevations and they had a nice base!! Well it turned out it was colder than expected and instead of rain we got a full day of snow. It was great!  We took one day to travel to Zion National Park and another to travel to Bryce Canyon. I LOVE these parks. Hard to pick a favorite but Iwould have to go with Zion. I love driving in the canyon and walking around. Those red rocks are stunning! Although, the Hoodoos at Bryce Canyon are pretty spectacular to see too. Nothing like I have ever seen before!  Anyways, we are back now and trying to adjust to the time change and time zone changes!  It hasn't been easy. 

Now I just need to get my butt in gear and start creating!!I thought I was going to get some things done this weekend. My LSS had a "Luck of the Irish Crop" and I spent Friday and all day Saturday there. However, I got nothing done. Seriously. I was too busy running my mouth and making Margaritas for everybody. I had a blast...but I got nothing accomplished!!!lol The margaritas were delish though!!!! Here's a funny, the night before I was "warned" to be nice to the ladies that would be sitting next to me the next day. You see, I can be loud sometimes...very loud. lol  So that morning I walked in with a brown bag of Tequila and some margarita mix. It was 10 am. I said, loudly, do I look like a lush walking into a liqour store at 10 a.m. getting tequila????? Well the girls laughed and said...ok we're sitting at the right table!! Now, as the day went on I am not quite sure if they still felt that way...but I don't think I scared them too badly!! I had them laughing a few times....sooooooo we'll see next crop!! haha!  Next crop I am just going to set up a bar and be the bartender....lol

I am today's Monday Inspiration hostess on the Crafter's Companion Challenge blog!! I do hope that you come by and check it out, I have some pointers and suggestions for using the new Spectrum Noir alcohol ink markers from Crafter's Companion.

I used Party Time from the Popcorn the Bear collection. It's a large image and fun to color because of the large canvas.

I was able to achieve a fair amount of shading using my limited supply of Spectrum Noirs. They are pretty easy to work with and inexpensive compared to other alcohol markers.

Hoppy Birthday

I need a stay-cation. Seriously, I just need 1 week just to be at home. I RARELY do that and boy could I use it!! I'm always going somewhere or doing something! Last night I was making a cake for my honey's bday, which is this weekend. I had this bright idea to bake a cake and go into work extra early and decorate his office (yes we work at the same place, different buildings and departments though...I rarely see him) Well, I did make a cake last night and then I went to flip it and totally broke them. My own fault...I should have put some parchment down but it didn't dawn on me until too late. The cake had andes mints in it. I thought about it afterwards  that the chocolate would sink and then they would stick to the bottom and thats exactly what happened. So I had to make ANOTHER cake. No issues this time around though. Needless to say I was up until way late baking. Then I woke up early and decorated his office. I really trashed the place, it was kind of hilarious. If your friends with me on facebook...I posted a picture. I had streamers and confetti all over. He was surprised and loved it!  His bday is actually on Sunday so now I have to figure out something for then too! Not sure I can top the decorations.

Enough about that....on to my card. Crafter's Companion is starting to carry a new line called Anthony and Burt...they really are adorable. They are just so fun and quirky.Fun to color too. They should be released in the next few days...so keep an eye out!

Paint Fusion Frame

Years ago I played around with some tole painting. For awhile there I had so many pots painted I didn't know what to do with them! LOL  I enjoyed it but haven't done any in forever. So when Crafter's Companion asked us to play with the new Sheena Douglass Paint Fusion flowers I have to admit I was kinda of excited. I love to paint...and this mixes to of my favorite things together. Painting and stamping!!  I use ot freehand my flowers. Sheena Douglass makes it easy for you because you stamp it out and just follow the lines drawings.iIt really was simple and I had alot of fun coloring them. The best part is there are a few youtube videos out there that can help give you ideas on how to create these wonderful flowers.

I had this cheapo frame from Michaels. I think it was a buck. I painted it cream and it still looked cheap lol  It dawned on me that I had picked up some Crackle medium from my LSS a few weeks back. It's by Helmar and it is a 2 step process. Very simple to do and it didn't take all that long.

First you lay down the step one medium. It needs to dry for 10-15 mins. It's going to be very tacky to the touch. Thats ok...it's suppose to be!!

Next you lay on the Step 2 medium.  You put a nice coat on it and then let it dry overnight. As it's drying you will start to see the "crackle". 

After it's all dry, you can take some ink and rub into the cracks to give it that distressed look. I used my Ranger Distress inks (Walnut stain).  I then sprayed it with a fixative so the color didn't come off!

The flowers that I used are actually ROSES!  However, I made them into Pansy. (Don't yell at me, I know the leaves aren't correct for pansies, but it's my frame and I can do what I want!! LOL)

Painting the flowers is quite simple. I used basic acrylic paints that you can pick up at your local craft store and a flat brush. I loaded one corner with yellow paint and the other corner with purple paint. Then on my palette blend the colors so they just join, but they don't really mix together. So you just go back and forth. Then you will place your flat brush on one of the petals and wiggle your way around. Keep doing this until all of your petals are painted. You do the same thing for the leaves except, you use green and yellow to load your brush.

I then cut out all my leaves and flowers. I glued them onto my frame using Helmars 450 glue, it's nice and strong!  I wanted to add some dimension to the flowers, I didn't want them to just be flat. So I used Scrapdots by Helmar to do that!

CC - You're Sweet Box

It's challenge time at Crafter's Companion and the them this week is "Something Sweet".  Well I was excited because I knew exactly which stamp I was going to use. I LOVE this little "You Deserve a Treat" From SWALK.

I decided to make a simple 5x5x2 box using my Ultimate Tool by Crafter's Companion. It's kind of a nifty little thing. One one said it says "Box base" and then the other it has "Box Lid".  That way it gives just the right about of space so that you can lay the lid over the box part. Worked out quite nicely.

Isn't she so cute!  I added some glossy accents to the cup and chocolates. I colored the couch with my copics but then wet back in with a Sharpie White poster pen and added dots so it looked more like fabric. I used some W's and a blender pen on the "floor". I wanted it to look like texture, similiar to carpet.

I cut out the border before I put it all together, makes it much easier. 

I then filled it up with lots of yummy treats which are TORTURING me.....lol  I'm on a diet, yet again...story of my life!!!  I can't have any of that....like zero, zilch...nada!! Luckily I can close it up and not look at it!  However, this girl knows how to smell some chocolate from a mile away!!
